How do I know if my van needs a Class 7 MOT?

Check the design gross weight (DGW) on the manufacturer's plate, usually inside the driver's door or under the bonnet. If it's over 3,000kg and up to 3,500kg, it needs a Class 7 test. Under 3,000kg is a Class 4 test.

Is a Class 7 MOT different from a car MOT?

The checks are similar, but the test accounts for the heavier weight, including brake performance under load. The testing equipment and bay must be suitable for Class 7 vehicles.

Bought a citreon c3 from Banks of Tyne a couple of months ago. Due to an issue with the warrenty company I really needed the timing belt changed. The guys were more than happy to oblige and even carried out an oil and filter change too - with no charge 👍 About a couple of weeks later I experienced another teething issue with the car. But again, Stephen, Owen and the team really stepped up and again carried out all the work - even changing one of my brake lights - without charge. I honestly could not recommend these guys enough, its a real rarity to find a dealership / mechanics that are friendly, care and make you feel valued as a customer. Stephen the MOT tester was really professional - gave me a price of the work (cheapest I have been quoted by far).
